Communication begins the moment a child is born and interacts with their mother for the first time. Development of communication skills is a lifelong process that progresses from simple cries/eye contact in infancy, to use of appropriate social language in childhood and beyond.

Children communicate using a wide variety of means, from non-verbal use of simple gestures and pointing, to one to two word utterances with eventual progression into more complex skills such as those necessary to initiate and maintain an appropriate conversation. As children grow, they learn to engage in social situations and read and respond to non-verbal gestures and body language.

Speech Therapy services in Orlando can address a variety of areas including the use and understanding of language, use of appropriate speech sound production when speaking, control of stuttering when speaking, use of appropriate voice when speaking, use of augmentative/alternative communication means and sensory feeding issues or Swallowing problems/Dysphagia.
